The Victory Initiative

At the heart of us all is a VICTORIOUS being, one who stood through countless trials and suffering that shaped who we became. The world would have us believe that Veterans are “broken,” due to the challenges some face.

When you pay attention, most of what you see and hear from the media, nonprofits, and society as a whole are stigmatic messages about PTSD, suicide, alcoholism, drugs and addiction, homelessness, and other brokenness associated with Veterans.

Meet Our Victory Initiative Director

Isabel Garcia Schmitt is an Army Veteran and nominee for Military Spouse of the Year 2024. As the Director of the Victory Initiative, Isabel is committed to helping WTO strategically spread the Victorious Narrative and all the positive stories that surround life in the Armed Forces and beyond. Not only does she see this message inspiring Veterans and their spouses to a better future, but also, she believes a shift in the story will also help end the military recruitment crisis by showing the true value associated with the choice to serve.

You can vote for Isabel for Military Spouse of the Year and help her spread the word about the Victory Initiative.

What Is The Victory Initiative?

The Victory Initiative may have started with WTO, but it is not ours alone. This has become a global movement to remind our service members and teach civilians that Veterans and their families are VICTORIOUS at heart, no matter the challenges they face.

As one Veteran stated, “I’m broken, but I’m not broken. Don’t you dare treat me like I’m broken.”

The mission of The Victory Initiative is to elevate our Warriors and restore them to their rightful place in society.

When you join the initiative, you make a commitment to yourself and others to have these conversations, even when talking about the challenges, from a strengths-based, hope-filled perspective.

“It’s unfair to compare and not relate. By comparing, you’re just closing doors. You compare yourself to what other people imagine of you, the image they have created of you, and then, you believe it. You can’t be VICTORIOUS if you believe that you are indeed broken and that it is not going to get better.”

— Joseph, U.S. Army Veteran
